Meaning in Motion is a space where running, recovery, and storytelling come together. It is about the endurance we build on the road, the meaning we find in struggle, and the redemption that is possible when we keep moving forward.
For decades, running has been part of my life — as an athlete, publisher, and storyteller. I’ve seen how the road teaches discipline, resilience, and hope. But Meaning in Motion is about more than racing and training plans. It’s about the human journey: the battles with addiction, the work of recovery, and the search for purpose in times of change.
Here you’ll find reflections drawn from both endurance sport and everyday life: lessons from the Comrades Marathon, insights from my books (Millwood, Five Hour Pilgrim), and stories of reinvention later in life.
My aim is simple: to share stories that encourage you to keep going — whether on the road, in recovery, or in the challenges of daily life.
