In one-hundred years of history the Comrades Marathon has been suspended for two catastrophes. Both worldwide events, both posed a grave threat to mankind. This page is a digital cenotaph, a place where those left behind can gather to remember our fallen, tragically lost, while the Comrades Marathon briefly held her breath. Once when the world was darkened by war and once when ravaged by a terrible pandemic.   

Below are the names of our fellow Comrades runners whose final race is done – lost either in the tragedy of the war between 1939 and 1945 or to the 2020 Covid Pandemic.
